iNaturalist Summer Bioblitz

May 23 - September 07

As a way to keep volunteers and the community engaged, the North Sound Stewards Program will be utilizing iNaturalist this summer to gather observational data on species. iNaturalist is a citizen science project and online social network of naturalists, citizen scientists, and biologists built on the concept of mapping and sharing observations of biodiversity across the globe.

Visit the Whatcom County project and help gather observations from the marine shoreline environment. There are suggestions for locations in the ABOUT section of the project. However, please feel free to upload observations from any shoreline that you are able to access in Whatcom County. Please make sure that you are following all safety and physical distancing guidelines.

Here are some helpful video tutorials to help with questions you may have about using iNaturalist.

To join the project, first create your account using the instructions provided, then click on Projects under the Community tab and type in the project name when prompted. Finally, when the project page comes up, just click to join.

For any questions please contact Kaylene Riehle (North Sound Stewards Intern) kayleneriehle@gmail.com.
